Adventures in Paris

My apologies for leaving you readers so long without updates. I had fully intended to write from Paris but it turned out to be a whirlwind of a trip with a few twists in the road. I have just returned home and while working on catching up, I leave you with a little visual inspiration of where I’ve been and what I’ve seen, from several new collections at Paris Deco Off, to chic shopping finds and exhibits in Paris to magnificent historic chateaus.…

Prepping for Paris | Two Faves in the 6th

As I start to prepare for my trip to Paris next week, I rediscovered some summer photos of two shops in the stylish 6th arrondissement where I will be staying again, that I never had time to share. The first is Philippe Ferrandis.…

Young Collectors Night at the Winter Antiques Show

Next week marks the opening of the 60th Year Diamond Jubilee of the Winter Antiques Show at the Park Avenue Armory. Widely considered the most prestigious show for the best of the best in fine and decorative arts, one of its most anticipated events is always Young Collectors Night.…

Marie Christophe, Guerlain and Cour des Senteurs

As Paris is only two weeks away, I thought it was an opportune time to write about the amazing confluence of events that led to this post. Last summer when I escorted my daughters on their first trip to Paris, we made the pilgrimage to Versailles, including a visit to the Cour des Senteurs, thanks to my good friends at The Buzz.…

It’s a Wrap Video with Susanna Salk and John Derian

John Derian is one part Charles Dickens, one part Saint-Germain-des-Prés and one part East Village, but 100% authentic. His distinctive and idiosyncratic vision of the world is addictive and it is difficult to leave any of his shops without something in hand.…

Antique & Artisan Christmas Boutique

It’s no secret that the Antique & Artisan Center is one of my favorite local sources for all that is chic and unique and starting tomorrow, their very first Christmas Boutique will be unveiled. I stopped by yesterday for a sneak peek at some of what partner Mari Ann Maher, below, has hand selected for the event.…

Holiday Shop Picks | The Neue Galerie

I’ve been feeling it for a while – something gemütlich is in the air and it’s not just Sacher torte and Tostmann Trachten. A focus on Austria seems to be making the rounds. This week T Magazine shared an amazing art collection in a 17th century Austrian Manor and Travel + Leisure explained why “Food is reason enough to come to Vienna in winter.” So since I don’t have a visit to Vienna scheduled in the immediate future (although I’ve discovered some designer friends do), the next best thing was obvious.…

Holiday Shop Picks | Verdura

It’s always a good day when I have a reason to visit Verdura. In their elegant boutique overlooking Fifth Avenue and Central Park, I had a chance to take a gander at their Mid-Century Master vintage exhibition on view (and of course for sale) through December 27th.…

Lambertson Truex at Privet House

The tiny hamlet of New Preston, CT may be small in square miles (7,39) and population (1,182) but looms large on the map as a retail design destination. With the most recent addition to the shopping scene, Privet House (moving from its Warren location earlier this year), chic weekenders no longer have to wonder where they are going to get their Cire Trudon candles, Santa Maria Novella bath products or unique accessories or antiques for their homes.…
