At the Movies

Most weeks I enjoy the challenge of trying to match my Friday movie pick somehow with what I have written about during the week. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but it’s a puzzle I always try to solve. Considering the art exhibition I covered on Tuesday and the classic house I featured yesterday, I think today’s movie, also a vintage classic, fits in rather nicely.…

At the Movies

It wasn’t very hard picking a movie in honor of Father’s Day. There are actually quite a few films to choose from that have strong father figures but nothing that compares to Gregory Peck’s iconic performance in To Kill a Mockingbird.…

Father’s Day Feast

In thinking about what sort of post to write in acknowledgement of Father’s Day this weekend, I realized my husband is less interested in most gifts than he is in food. So as inspiration, I decided to share some of the recipes I am considering for the day.…

Hen House Home

As many of us are considering summer entertaining, one of the easy ways to add flavor to an event is colorful linens. One of my recent discoveries is a wonderful source for cheerful, reasonable and casually stylish linens of all sorts.…

At the Movies

Last weekend I saw a vintage movie that I haven’t ever seen – a rarity for me since it starred Bette Davis. And even more amazing was that it had both summer and shelter magazine themes!! June Bride, from 1948, was not one of Davis’ major hits, but was an improvement over her previous film, Winter Meeting.…

Lunch with Jamee at J. McLaughlin

Last week I attended a fun book signing/luncheon event at the new J. McLaughlin store in Westport. Unlike the other 44 smaller outposts of the company, this huge 5,500 square foot flagship store is arranged into charming thematic boutiques within the large loft-like space.…

At the Movies

It seems that summer has finally found us. Several conversations I’ve had recently with friends online have involved their upcoming trips to Italy. While I am totally envious, it reminded me of a vicarious trip I took long ago. It was my first real exposure to Venice, a city that I am sorry to say I still haven’t seen in person.…

At the Movies

Since I think many of us regard Memorial Day weekend as the unofficial beginning of summer, I wanted to pick a fun movie that put us in the proper mood. This gave me the perfect excuse to choose a film I’ve been waiting to share.…

Traditional Home Presents Lee Jofa’s Heritage Collection

Although today is usually Wednesday Wine, there has been so much happening at Blogfest, I felt the need to catch up those of you unable to attend. Today was another jam packed day of activities. One of my favorite venues was the Traditional Home cocktail party at Mayo Studios in Long Island City where select designers were invited to use Lee Jofa‘s new Heritage collection, featuring modern versions of classic Lee Jofa prints, in full scale set designs.…
