The Return of Poiret
While today we are accustomed to the close connection between fashion and decor, with designers often crossing the divide, a century ago, these relationships were not so intertwined. But there was one creative couturier who embodied the modern concept of lifestyle, encompassing clothing, interiors and even beauty.…

It’s hard to keep up with Dara Caponigro and her team at Schumacher! Their latest creative collaboration with Vogue – Vogue Living – just launched and the collection a wonderful melding of many of the themes I write about here – fashion and decor, timeless design and looking back to move forward.…

Wallpaper Wizardry | The Schumacher Library of Wallcovering
My love of wallpaper is no secret and I was intrigued as Schumacher hinted on their Instagram feed (@Schumacher1889) about an impending wallpaper announcement. Lisa Perry + Schumacher
While Schumacher has had their share of designer collections in recent years, their most recent collaboration harkens back to their illustrious history of pairings with the likes of Paul Poiret and Elsa Schiaparelli. When Dara Caponigro joined Schumacher as Creative Director in 2013, I thought it the perfect opportunity for the distinguished fabric house to branch out a bit more into lifestyle.…

Alessandra Branca for ELLE DECOR at Hearst Designer Visions
In her Designer Visions apartment, Alessandra Branca is all about contrasting combinations – of old and new, of elegance and comfort and of color and pattern. What was originally planned as the dining room was repurposed as a warm and cozy library/sitting room.…

Hearst Designer Visions | Matthew Patrick Smyth for ELLE DECOR
Hearst Magazines’ 6th annual Designer Visions is a marvelously conceived showcase (for more information, see this earlier post). It’s not surprising that the three apartments, one sponsored by each of the Hearst design group magazines, are beautiful but when attending a preview last week, I was impressed with the incredibly detailed back stories created by each of the designers for their imagined muses.…
