As you now know, I go out of my way to avoid getting sun. Despite my good sunscreens, sometimes you just don’t even want the rays. This year, I invested in a beautiful new sun hat. But not just any hat. My secret source is the fabulous Susan van der Linde store upstairs on 57th Street. This bastion of quiet elegance has the loveliest shoes, bags and spectacular hats, worthy of Ascot or the Kentucky Derby (which some of her clients buy for). Everything is totally custom. In true sartorial manner, your head is measured and fabric and accessories (if appropriate) are selected. They can also fashion your Hermes scarf into a baseball cap (great repurposing for those silk squares just sitting in your drawer). Even though summer is winding down, there are still plenty of reasons to pay svdl a call and we’ll revisit them in coming months to take a look at their fall/winter offerings. Definitely worth a special visit.
