Design on a Dime

Last Thursday evening I attended the Design on a Dime opening night party to benefit Housing Works. This was the seventh year for the event with all proceeds going towards the organization’s newest residence for New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS: The Jefferson Avenue Housing Program in Brooklyn.…

Supper in the Stable

Going to Churchill Downs this weekend? Have your hat selected? Your picks ready? Lucky you!! But for those of us not traveling to Kentucky, there are certainly many stylish ways we can enjoy the festivities as well. So, channeling a little DV for the day, I thought “why don’t we” present a Derby inspired scenario honoring the event?…

Help is Here

Saturday night I was invited to the press preview of the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross‘s annual Red & White Ball. What a fabulous venue it was. In the Net Jets Hangar at the Westchester Airport, thirty six tablescapes were designed by the area’s top designers and florists.…

Tabletop Royalty

For those wondering what to get the royal couple, Kate and William have asked guests to make donations to selected charities rather than buying them lavish presents. While I applaud that noble gesture, I couldn’t resist making some registry-like tabletop selections for their new home in conjunction with the furniture that is being chosen for our Royal Wedding contest.…

Exciting News!

As some of you know, I have been very lucky lately here in the blogosphere. So lucky that I am thinking I should be buying a lottery ticket! Many of us enter giveaways online that blogging friends so kindly offer. Sometimes I leave a comment on a friend’s site without intentionally even entering the contest.…

Old Meets New in the Art World

A couple of weeks ago I attended an art opening at the lovely Southport Galleries here in Connecticut, which recently celebrated its first successful year in business. Nestled in the heart of charming Southport Village, the gallery is housed in a former hardware store that has been meticulously restored and transformed into the current light filled space.…

Architecture in the Garden

One of my favorite new finds, also discovered at the Architectural Digest Home Show, is the wonderful British company Architectural Heritage. With all the talk of heritage lately, this service oriented family-run business can truly lay claim to the title. For 35 years they have been sourcing the finest examples of 18th, 19th and early 20th century garden statuary, fountains, urns, seats, sundials etc.…
