New York Botanical Garden Orchid Dinner Finale

Today we are starting to wrap up coverage of the New York Botanical Garden Orchid Dinner, where, to use our new favorite phrase, there was a delightful embarrassment of riches. I had planned on bringing you the remainder of the tables in this posting, but due to nagging and time-consuming technological issues, we will extend into the weekend.…

Modern Romance with Miles Redd for Danielle Rollins

The March/April issue of  Veranda is all about Modern Romance and that’s exactly what contributing editor Danielle Rollins was looking for when she hired Miles Redd to decorate her expansive 1920s Philip Shutze house in Atlanta. Danielle RollinsWho better to create a sumptuous manse perfect for stylish entertaining and gracious living than the man whose signature look is a Fred Astaire Top Hat fantasy come to life in his vintage David Adler mirrored bathroom.…

But I hate to leave you movie fans empty handed, especially at this time of year, so I will remind you of one of my very favorites I mentioned a couple of years ago.…

At the Movies

Last weekend my husband happened upon an old favorite on TCM that is rarely on. It’s a classic yet somewhat under the radar movie – just the kind I love to share. And with its wintery alpine setting, it seemed somehow apropos.…

Hearst Designer Visions | Matthew Patrick Smyth for ELLE DECOR

Hearst Magazines’ 6th annual Designer Visions is a marvelously conceived showcase (for more information, see this earlier post). It’s not surprising that the three apartments, one sponsored by each of the Hearst design group magazines, are beautiful but when attending a preview last week, I was impressed with the incredibly detailed back stories created by each of the designers for their imagined muses.…
