More Style from Design on a Dime

Flair Home designers George Nunno and Jon Maroto have a distinctive super sophisticated eclectic style I adore. With a mix of vintage and new Italian and American pieces, it is impossible to put a chonronological or geographic stamp on their creations.…

Ravishing Rooms at Design on a Dime

Design on a Dime is one of the most popular design events in the New York community. Benefiting Housing Works‘ programs for homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, it attracts more than 50 top tier designers who create rooms with donated merchandise, which is then sold for 50- 70% off retail.…

High Point Picks – Eclectic Elements

Natural Curiosities strikes just the right creative note with its eclectic and somewhat eccentric collections encompassing the “beautiful, historical and educational.” I have featured them before and am totally captivated each time I visit. Founder Christopher Wilcox and his crew do not fit neatly into a single category.…

An Evening at the Antique and Artisan Center

With 22,000 square feet featuring over 80 of the hottest dealers in America, the Antique & Artisan Center is the anchor for the preeminent local design district in an industrial section of Stamford, CT. Wood Shop

This past week I visited the fun concept store, Wood Shop, in NoLIta. The brainchild  of David Stark, the art installation has “ambushed” fellow RISD grad Nina Freudenberger’s stylish shop, Haus Interiors on Elizabeth Street. The temporary month long exhibit cleverly walks the line between gallery and retail experience  (you can also shop for items online on Haus’ website).…

New York Gift Show Finale

I would imagine many of you are familiar with Belgian designer Serge de Troyer and his Miami based company. His lucite trunk, an iconic piece that I featured here, is now available in a smaller version. The pillow inside is part of a new collection cleverly made from upcycled fur coats.…

New York Gift Fair Finds II

While I couldn’t possibly write about all the wonderful vendors I saw at the New York Gift Show, I thought I would give you a brief overview today and tomorrow of a few more favorites. This by no means represents everything I saw and liked but hopefully gives a little flavor of the diverse offerings.…
