Virtual Postcard | Kevin Isbell in Sardinia
Welcome to a new installment of our summer video travel series VIRTUAL POSTCARD. When I noticed that designer Kevin Isbell was planning a trip to Sardinia this summer, I immediately nabbed him for an episode, knowing his seasoned eye would capture the beauty of this distinctive destination.…

Founded in 1924 by Mrs. Drury McMillen, McMillen Inc. is the oldest, continuously operating interior design firm in America. And I can’t think of any other design firm that can boast of having three generations of women from one family in its fold.…

Bringing the World Home
Monday I head back to Nantucket for a big week of design. The annual Antiques & Design Show starts on Friday with several attending events including the festive opening night party and design panel, which this year includes Susanne Kasler, Amanda Linderoth, Charlotte Moss, Matthew Patrick Smyth and Suzanne Tucker.…

bohemiachic at Privet Lives
When at the Day of Design at the Mayflower Grace last month, fellow speaker Kathy McCarver Root sported a fantastic necklace I admired. She explained that the long chain, with a color coordinated assortment of unusual charms and objets, was the work of friend Maura de Visscher, founder of bohemiachic.…

Summer Inspiration
It was a rather rude awakening to return home from the cool crisp Maine air to the sweltering heat and humidity of Connecticut. I would rather be sitting on the lawn at Migis seeing the water skiers come in

Shopping the Wharf on Nantucket | Table No. 1
While there are many mainstays on the island, shopping the wharf on Nantucket can be a little like musical chairs. Some businesses start here and then move on “uptown” to more permanent lodgings but some remain, finding a fit with the seasonal charm of the small shop spaces.…

If You’re Heading to London
This summer’s theme in these parts has clearly settled on travel. Whether extended weekends or weeks long summer idyls, inspiration is everywhere. For those who might be heading to London, there are several not-to-be-missed exhibits in town. Most appropriate perhaps is the Joseph Cornell show at the Royal Academy of Arts.…
