In the world of design, Alexa Hampton needs no introduction. Armed with all the right credentials, including an honorary doctorate, Alexa (or should we say Dr. Hampton) has built her own successful career since assuming the role of president of her father’s eponymous firm in 1998. Alexa can not only tell you what is good but also why. As she explains in her book, “While there is no question that the best designers have innate talent and creativity, the language of interior design can be taught, and anyone can benefit from learning it. Training your eye is a life-long process.” We are thrilled to have Alexa as our guest today to shop with Susanna in our latest episode of Stylish Shopping. Get ready to be schooled by the erudite and always entertaining designer.
While the gregarious designer is amusing and easy going, her designs are elegant and refined. Informed by her education both in school and in the studio, her ebullient demeanor belies a deep knowledge and love of classic design, architecture and art history.
Consistently included by Architectural Digest as part of their AD100 directory and by House Beautiful in their annual “America’s Best 100 Designers,” Alexa Hampton is a designer who has it all. With a thriving portfolio, as well as a furniture collection for Hickory Chair, fabric and trim collection for Kravet, lighting collection for Visual Comfort and rug collection for Stark Carpet, she is one busy lady! So we were delighted she had time to join us for an entertaining and informative Stylish Shopping excursion.
