Nina Campbell Does New Preston Redux

Nina Campbell and Susanna Salk in New Preston, CT

I really felt I was ahead of schedule this year, but yet again, Christmas has snuck up leaving not nearly enough time to accomplish everything, including all the posts I wanted to share. One of my favorite shopping destinations here in Connecticut is the charming town of New Preston, where shops like Pergola, Privet House, Plain Goods, J. Seitz and more can answer almost all your holiday needs. And I am certainly not alone. On the weekends in particular, legions of fans show up to shop the sophisticated stores in meandering country style. A couple years ago, Susanna and I managed to coordinate a visit with designer Nina Campbell (who has an extensive shopping site of her own) and film our shopping extravaganza in New Preston. While I catch up at home, please join (or rejoin if you watched the first time ’round) us for a little Christmas cheer while Nina shows us how it’s done.

And since this is the last video until 2017, let me take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors this year: NEST Fragrances, Duralee, Christopher Spitzmiller, Jonas, Vendome Press (be sure to check out their fabulous new site), Merida and Watson Kennedy. We are proud to have such an impressive line up of venerable and stylish sponsors who, hopefully like you, see the value of giving design a voice. And of course a huge shout out to our featured guests, who are so generous in sharing their time and stylish homes with us. We have lots of terrific episodes planned for the new year and we love having you tag along, so stay tuned as we visit At Home With designers and stylemakers from coast to coast and occasionally beyond. You’ll feel you’re right there with us!

  1. New Preston is one of my favorite little towns! About 16 ago, I found my wonderful antique Zuber screen which I still adore. That shop is no longer there, but all of the stores are fabulous. Thanks for this lovely present and fun to see Nina Campbell too! Happy Holidays Stacey and all the best for 2017! xoxo, Laurel

  2. Although I have not been in years (I used to take friends to see Bill Blass’s house), New Preston is one of my favorite communities in that corner of the state and I am glad to see it prospering. If you haven’t been to Michael Trapp’s shop, further up the road in West Cornwall, I recommend it.

  3. All this wonderful shopping…sitting in my comfort chair…enjoying my coffee…with a twist…aahhh…thanks for so much fun!! franki
