Carnation (Garogano in Italian) is one of the most celebrated patterns from the famous ceramics area of Faenza in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. This style of majolica features a special glaze with a blue/gray background, used since the Renaissance, that is a perfect foil for the beautiful design. Influenced by eastern gardens, the design (reputably brought home from Asia by Marco Polo) is a staple of the region since the 18th century.
You will find that this stunning pattern is an incredibly versatile addition to your tabletop collection.
