While many of the products I am sharing from the Spring 2017 Tabletop Market at 41 Madison won’t be available until August or September, it’s always good to have them on your radar as you start to think of fall gifting or upgrading at home later in the year. Those already procurable could be great additions as we approach spring/summer entertaining.
One of the most striking installations was at Christofle. Their 41 Madison showroom never looked better with printed velvet trompe l’oeil walls by Koziel. The classic architectural backdrop against the modern Graphik, completely hand cut mouth-blown crystal, expanded with new colors, perfectly expressed the essence of the brand.
Velvet panels served as placemats at the table set with Marcel Wanders luxurious Jardin d’Eden flatware and chargers
Expanding each season, the Jardin d’Eden collection, for Spring 2017 tabletop, presented a chandelier of 20 lights with smoked crystal lampshade, crafted by hand in the Christofle workshops.
Also from the collection, new lamps
and hurricanes, here fitted with tiny LED votives.
Their popular MOOD collection, which introduced a pink gold finish last year, now expands with a Coffee version, including 6 espresso spoons with room for sugar packs in the center – a great gift to remember for weddings and the holidays.
A very special cross disciplinary introduction was seen at St Louis – the largest in the heritage company’s history – including twenty-five pieces of tableware, decorative accessories, lighting and furniture. Designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance (the creative force behind the brilliant interiors of the beautiful Air France lounge at Charles de Gaulle), Folia is inspired by the Moselle forest which surrounds the Saint-Louis factory.
The leaf-like facets cut in the crystal reference the geometry and organic shapes found in nature. The vibrant chartreuse vase, in a numbered and signed limited edition of 100, was a personal favorite.
In considering a contemporary vision to convey the strength and beauty of nature, he has combined cut crystal with the clean lines of ash wood for a beautiful modern pairing. Whether as an elegant hurricane (in two sizes)
or footed table lamp, the pieces are refined and sophisticated expressions of design and craftsmanship.
At sister company Puiforcat, the art of the table is celebrated in their new collection, Argent Gourmand. In continuing to expand their range of silver for a stylish and cultivated lifestyle, Puiforcat tapped two titans in their fields to come together for a “sweet summit.” Multi-faceted designer and long-time Puiforcat partner Patrick Jouin (whose work included the spectacular Set in Style exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt six years ago – one of my very early posts) and legendary pastry chef Pierre Hermé joined forces to create a collection fusing form and function and dessert!
In front, silver plated individual ice cream bowls utilize the sphere shape evident throughout the collection, accented by ice cream spoons with red lacquered handles. Behind, the covered cake dishes and on top the two tiered macaron stand with round cover – both,as seen below.

And beyond the table, for the cigar smoking man who has everything on your list, Puiforcat introduced a handsome humidor! Made of sterling and sycamore,
It can be engraved for a personalized very special gift.
