Out and About in Florida and Around the World

This past week I was happily out and about in Florida, visiting family and escaping the unseasonable weather. It was refreshing to see green and color in both nature Florida palm trees and bougainvillea and the tropical exteriors. tropical Florida arched entry with bougainvillea blue shutters against gray Florida exterior And while I was away, there was also an abundance of inspiration online from some favorite publications, reinforcing an oft-favored theme in these parts of looking back to move forward.…

Fiona Corsini di San Giuliano's Tuscan home Back to the Land

While we just celebrated the birthday of our own “land” this weekend, there seems to be a more widespread undercurrent in the air. The appeal of returning back to the land is a movement literally underfoot. While I encourage you to read the marvelous issue for yourself, I’d like to augment just a few bits with some thoughts about the art of craft.…

T Magazine Luxury Issue

Deborah Needleman always seems to say just what I have been thinking but haven’t quite gotten around to articulating. In her editor letter for this weekend’s T Magazine Luxury Issue, she writes, “To do ‘simple’ right isn’t as easy as it looks — whether it’s the design of a building, a dress or even a life.…
