Suzanne Rheinstein Collection at KRB

There are few contemporary design icons today as missed as the much loved Suzanne Rheinstein. Her refined yet casually chic New Orleans meets L.A. style was a brilliant blending of patina, texture and form lending character and charm to whatever she touched. And while Suzanne loved a certain formality, her rooms were anything but stiff.

Exuding a relaxed elegance, they were a timeless take on comfort and luxury infused with personality and a fresh, understated flair. And nowhere was her much admired style more evident than in her own homes, where her lifelong love of history, houses, gardens and gracious living informed her rooms with authenticity, appropriateness and a little whimsy. Here an effortless mix of antiques, art and decorative objects resonated within subtle palettes and a great attention to detail and proportions.

If you would like to get a glimpse of Suzanne’s inimitable style up close and personal, watch our At Home With episode at her Los Angeles Georgian style home, a study in layered neoclassical elegance.

And then join us in Montecito, where Suzanne’s house was all about tranquility, where she organized rooms to capitalize on the light, her stunning views of the San Isidro mountains and her gorgeous gardens designed by Nancy Goslee Power. Here Suzanne’s rooms were pared back and serene yet still included a worldly mix of sophisticated collections. With a belief in the power of beauty and great design, Suzanne was a deserved legend whose NYC collection will live on in some very lucky homes.
