There are few contemporary design icons today as missed as the much loved Suzanne Rheinstein. Her refined yet casually chic New Orleans meets L.A. style was a brilliant blending of patina, texture and form lending character and charm to whatever she touched. And while Suzanne loved a certain formality, her rooms were anything but stiff.

Exuding a relaxed elegance, they were a timeless take on comfort and luxury infused with personality and a fresh, understated flair. And nowhere was her much admired style more evident than in her own homes, where her lifelong love of history, houses, gardens and gracious living informed her rooms with authenticity, appropriateness and a little whimsy. Here an effortless mix of antiques, art and decorative objects resonated within subtle palettes and a great attention to detail and proportions.

So it is with great anticipation that a selection of pieces from Suzanne’s New York City pied-à-terre will be for sale next week exclusively through her daughter Kate’s beloved design destination KRB. Antique furniture, decorative objects and items created by the designer specifically for the apartment will be included. Pieces will be available at the shop (1024 Lexington Avenue) and online (for those of you not in the NYC area or in Paris for the shows) beginning January 15 at 12:00 pm EST.
