Winter Wonderland

Everyone loves a white Christmas. Although I live in the northeast, it actually doesn’t happen that often. I’ve always dreamed of spending the holiday in a luxe alpine resort where you would be guaranteed a winter wonderland in grand style. Gstaad, St. Moritz or Verbier come to mind but my fantasy is Megeve, the elegant rustic-chic resort in the French alps developed by the Rothschild family in the 1910’s and ’20s. I love its charming cobblestoned town and restored medieval buildings. You can have a lovely tour  by horse drawn carriage (love that even the carriage and throw are winter white).

Then watch the lighting of the Swarovski crystal laden tree in the town square

And you could stay at one of the beautiful hotels in town or rent yourself a lovely winter wonderland of your own.

Even if you’re not one of the lucky ones to experience such a holiday extravagance, you can still create your own whiter shade of pale holiday at home. This beautifully fluid Gucci dress would be a fabulous pick for an elegant get together.

as would this gorgeous Alberta Ferretti silk chiffon number with Swarovski crystals.

Love the tailored menswear look of the Donna Karan satin jacket

And for luxe casual chic Moncler rocked all white this fall with Mongolian sheep

On the slopes white is always right

For evening accessories, the very feminine Valentino fits the bill nicely

as does the the more tailored Asha white python clutch

and the lanvin oulala mariage satin clutch

This tweed Chanel is a go with everything classic

which you could pair with these versaile Louboutins

Off the slopes these timberlands could go everywhere

especially with this Givenchy

and Nancy Gonzalez

I would wear this spectacular Queen of the Sea necklace by Jean-Francois Fichot with everything I own!

And Federica Rettore’s  rutilated quartz earrings could be a wardrobe staple as well

The best way to keep track of time would naturally be…

And these would be welcome additions to any winter white collection.

  1. I LOVE wearing white in winter and all those dresses and ski outfits are to die for. My favorite is the head-to-toe Montcler outfit. Is that a puffy skirt? I feel a huge impulse to google and buy that little number.

    • Duchy – I love wearing winter white also even though it’s not my best color (I am very fair with auburn hair). isn’t the Moncler fabulous?! This was from their Gamme Rouge line shot by Steven Meisel. Not sure if that’s a skirt on the bottom or an extension of the jacket – but looks great!

  2. This post is right up my alley tonight. I am in the mountains and skied in an absolute winter wonderland today. I am currently recuperating by the fire, and pouring over your images. You really hit the nail on the head with these winter white selections.
    Xo,

  3. Oh my gosh I am in love with the home you pictured up top. All the animal print in that one room?? Love!! Now if Santa would just stop by with those Givenchy boots…

  4. What utterly dreamy beautiful things.
I’ve been eyeing up the Lanvin clutch but I’m not sure if paws, my need for perfection and satin will make a god marriage.

  5. Your winter white round up is spectacular! Last week found me on the Moncler website for hours, isn’t it amazing? SO much beautiful eye candy here, you could almost convince me that I like the snow:)

    • Hi Anita – Great choices – actually a friend recently received that watch as a wedding gift from her very generous new husband!

  6. Such a beautiful post! I will take one of everything!
The Rodin is gorgeous. I did a post on his work earlier. I would love to have that Chanel watch, please.
Have a wonderful and festive week.

  7. I love winter whites! I never imagined the Chanel bag in white tweed, but it looks absolutely breathtaking. The Gucci dress is gorgeous as well… is it too late to adjust my Christmas list? Hope you have a lovely week!

  8. I’ve never even heard of Megeve before and now it’s on my dream list too! I love everything in this post and would over the moon with any of it – the sweater, the Valentino clutch, that amazing white peacock dining room…swoon.

  9. Your winter wonderland is beautiful. With a hot cup of Christmas tea, I enjoyed all your choices of special goodies.

    • Marsha – so nice to hear from you! And glad you liked my little fantasy!! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  13. Your blog is now the first thing I look at with my sleepy eyeballs and morning coffee. This was too gorgeous!!! When I was a kid, I alternated between wishing I was Samantha Stevens or Jeannie, so all my wishes could come true. Now I want to live in Quintessence wonderland instead of Jeannie’s bottle. Fantasies of gorgeous places and things for grown ups! Too divine!

    • Debbi – what can I say – you are TOO kind!! We all need a little escapist dream – including me!!
