New York Botanical Garden Orchid Dinner Preview

One of my favorite events of the winter design scene is The New York Botanical Garden’s annual Orchid Dinner. Serving as a fundraising prelude to the annual Orchid Show, the Garden has continued its collaboration with Veranda in bringing together over 25 top NYC designers (see this year’s list below) to create spectacular orchid centerpieces and tabletops.

OrchidThe theme of this year’s show, Key West Contemporary, opening March 1, should provide plenty of tropical inspiration.

the Victorian-style glasshouse of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory will be transformed with a beautiful waterfall wall, a still reflecting pool and large pergolas, all covered of course with thousands of orchids.

As I anticipate the glory of the unusual specimens and fabulous table settings that I will be on display Monday evening, I thought it would be fun to take a peek at some of my favorites my previous seasons.

Stay tuned for a look at this year’s tables.

  1. The table settings in the botanical garden orchid dinner party are fabulous, breathtaking and luxurious.I love orchids, thanks for sharing these pics and the post.

  2. Just a quick note: my step-father provided many of the original specimen orchids for the New York Botnical Garden many years ago. I wonder how many of his “babies” are still thriving? Orchid lovers are a breed unto themselves. Have a wonderful time.

  3. One of our favorite events of the year, too, and you do such a great job covering the tables. We’ve made it a priority to go to the show this year – anything to brighten up our day and make us look forward to spring!
