High Point Picks | Keeping Tradition Fresh at Thibaut

While Thibaut is the oldest continuously operating wallpaper company in the country, that doesn’t keep them from pushing the envelope of tradition. Ever since I got a sneak peek at their new furniture line almost a year ago, I had been wanting to see it in person.

So this market, I made a point of stopping by Market Square to see the new line – and I wasn’t disappointed. Goldilocks would have loved this collection – not too big, not too small, the classic shapes in this capsule collection of American made products are just right. Traditional styles are reinterpreted for today with pleasing proportions and comfortable scale. The Frederik settee may reference traditional style but with clean lines, hard back and a single cushion, it has a modern sensibility that could accommodate any number of fabric styles.

Just as the drinks table is such a versatile scaled down piece, so are small armless occasional chairs. Thibaut offers several terrific options such as this charming Brentwood slipper chair in Sausalito. While shown framed in white, there are fourteen wood stains and premium paint finishes available as well as the option of any Benjamin Moore color.

Here, for example is the same chair, skirted, in the more formal Equador fabric.

Two different wing chairs are offered – the more traditional Dartmouth and the sleeker more contemporary Monterey, with its understated nailhead treatment.

The company also introduced its new Biscayne fabric collection as well as new introductions in the Anna French line. How fresh and appealing is this fun Bahamas wallpaper – I just love the turquoise and red.

And you can imagine how much I liked the pops of orange in the colorway of this Sakara wallpaper (from the recently introduced Menswear Resource collection) with coordinating ottoman and pillows.

This is just the tip of the iceberg at Thibaut, both in terms of furniture, fabric and wallcoverings. More favorites included natural and vinyl grasscloth for walls, woven fabrics and Anna French sheers. Here’s a peek at a few more picks but I suggest you take a look yourself at all they have to offer.
