It’s a Dog’s Life with Isaac Mizrahi

Isaac Mizrahi certainly needs no introduction. Whether you know him as a celebrated fashion designer (look for his Isaac Mizrahi Live! women’s apparel and accessories collection for QVC), as an acclaimed cabaret singer (his hit one man show, “Does This Song Make Me Look Fat” will go national this fall at City Winery locations around the country), as a judge on Project Runway: All Stars, or from his many cameo appearances in films and on TV, Isaac’s immense creativity, energy, insight and wit is as infectious as it is inspiring! What you may not know, however, is that Isaac is a dog lover and rescuer. Starting with his first rescue, in 2000, the late great Harry, he now lives with Dean (12 years old), a Beagle/Jack Russell mix and Kitty (2 years old), a Border Collie mix. We were thrilled to visit Isaac and his two beloved companions in his spacious Greenwich Village abode for our latest episode of It’s a Dog’s Life. Join us!

Set in a historic 1931 building, the apartment is actually the result of combining three apartments over the course of 20 years.

Thank you Isaac, Dean and Kitty for welcoming us to your home with equal parts charm and panache. Your loving yet irreverent attitude about living a stylish life with his dogs is an inspiration!

  1. I love this interview :) He’s totally right, if you’re going to have pets you have to develop a sort of zen about the things they do!

  2. I think I have one of Kitty’s relatives. Her name is Luna and she is also a rescue from Puerto Rico. My daughter Katie volunteered at Pets Alive in Puerto Rico in 2013 and it was love at first sight! Luna looks a lot like Kitty and is graceful and sweet too. I’d attach a photo if I could.

  3. I must remember Isaacs nonchalant attitude to doggy mayhem next time my two do something ‘shocking’, such as chewing the trim off of my lovely Althea linen pillows :-) . Now I have resorted to flipping the pillows top to bottom, because the bottoms are still ok , and who cares if the flowers are now upside down, right? :-)

  4. Great video! Leave it to Issac to conjure up our appreciation for Kitty Carlisle Hart! I remember watching To Tell the Truth at 5/6 years old and being fascinated by this glamorous woman dressed in pearls and evening gowns to participate on a weekly talk show! I also like that Issac seems”real”. His interviews are always fun to watch as he shares little nuggets of life just as if we all live the way he does LOL.

  5. This shows a very sensitive side of Isaac. His love for his pets is phenomenal even though some of his valuables were ruined. His comparison of the dog to Kitty Carlisle is so amusing. He is a very creative person.
