As you may remember from my post on the Rockefeller Homes and Gardens, next spring Christie’s will offer The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller. In the meantime, a global tour begins next week in Hong Kong (marking the family’s longtime commitment to Asia) with highlights from the collection.…

Rockefeller Homes and Gardens

When you grew up, as I did, on the Hudson River, in the vicinity of Pocantico Hills, the Rockefeller name loomed large. In addition to their own stately homes, the family was largely responsible for so many generous gestures in the area, from the charming Union Church with its Matisse and Chagall windows, to the amazing Stone Barns Center to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. …

Setting a Holiday Table with Christie’s

Designer Alex Papachristidis and I share a love of tabletop so we were delighted when several weeks ago Christie’s asked if we would like to collaborate on setting a holiday table using lots from their upcoming Living with Art sales. Merging a wide range of categories and styles, the sale focuses on how both fine and decorative art live successfully together in our homes. …

Spring Design Auction at Christie’s

The intersection of art and design frequently raises many questions. Is art considered not inherently as important or valuable when it has a function? Or should it perhaps be considered even more important since it enhances the owner’s life on a daily basis on both a physical as well as emotional level. …

Designers’ Picks From the Christie’s 20th Century Decorative Art & Design Auction

Auctions, especially at distinguished houses, can be intimidating. And yet they are some of the best sources for great buys. So in anticipation of the upcoming Christie’s 20th Century Decorative Art & Design Auction next month, the house decided to collaborate with three young design firms to show budding collectors the type of pieces these stylish interior designers might choose for their clients, or themselves. …

Christie’s Interiors

Sometimes you have to go with the flow. I had a different post planned for today but then my very market-savvy sister sent me the latest issue of Christie’s Interiors. Finishing up her thesis for her Decorative Arts Masters, she faithfully follows all the auctions and knew this was one I would love.…
