Lenox Hill Neighborhood House Gala

It was a Spring Affair at the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House Gala Wednesday night as designers presented their visions for the theme at 50 spectacularly decorated tables. Honoring Thomas Edelman, long term board president of the well respected and popular nonprofit, media sponsor Veranda chose a well rounded list of distinguished designers, with editor-in-chief Clinton Smith and design and decoration editor Carolyn Englefield serving as two of the Design Chairs.…

Thank you Wall Street Journal Off Duty and Dining by Design Finale

The Wall Street Journal Off Duty section is one of my favorite weekend treats. So I was especially pleased to be able to contribute a little something to today’s piece on the DIFFA Dining by Design gala, which I attended last Monday evening.…

Part II of DIFFA Dining by Design 2014

While I won’t have time to cover all of the marvelous tables at this year’s Dining by Design, this second part includes a number of particularly noteworthy vignettes. The sister team of 2Michaels designed a serene Japanese inspired vignette for Beacon Hill, using the company’s new Floating World collection.…

NYBG Orchid Dinner Tables

While perhaps challenging in its specificity, the Key West Modernism theme at the NYBG Orchid Dinner couldn’t have been more welcome in a city that has lately felt more like Siberia than Gotham. A great crowd assembled to celebrate the table designers’ creativity, perhaps purchase one of the coveted rare specimens for sale before dinner

Serving as a fundraising prelude to the annual Orchid Show, the Garden has continued its collaboration with Veranda in bringing together over 25 top NYC designers (see this year’s list below) to create spectacular orchid centerpieces and tabletops.…

Rustic Chic New Year’s Lunch with Aerin Lauder

Attending elaborate parties thrown by her legendary grandmother, Estée Lauder, certainly influenced Aerin Lauder’s entertaining style. And tempered by her mother’s less is more sensibility, Aerin has developed her own take on her family’s holiday traditions. The upcoming January/February issue of Veranda features a festive New Year’s lunch at the family’s Long Island compound, where, in an old barn on the property, Aerin prepared a rustic chic Austrian-inspired affair.…

Happy Thanksgiving

From my home to yours, wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving
This year my table started with the amber accessories. I continued the theme with a similarly colored tole cachepot. I kept it fresh with the napkins and then added feathers to the autumnal arrangement for a little graphic pop.…
