Pimlico Premiere

I had actually intended a different post for today but after attending  a festive event celebrating the reopening of New Canaan, CT design destination Pimlico in its fabulous new location, I knew you would enjoy seeing some shots of the space. I had mentioned this chic outpost of style in my very first Behind the Q when the Tilton Fenwick team and I visited the store in its previous home.

Owners Melissa Lindsay and Jill Saunders have been the sole proprietors of the business for the past three years, bringing this small shop to the attention of all local design mavens.

With frequently changing displays, the store can be relied on for continually fresh inspiration.

From furniture

to distinctive case goods and accessories, this chic shop has an eclectic assortment of temptation.

I of course loved this assemblage of orange

The beautiful Diane James flowers

And the wonderfully styled vignettes

The evocative artwork of Kerri Rosenthal adorned the walls.

You may remember reading about her on blogging friend Elizabeth’s site, Pretty Pink Tulips here.

The food for the event was fantastic – much more than your average cocktail fare.

I was excited to discover it was the creation of chef Brian Lewis who will be bringing New Canaan the much anticipated elm restaurant in January. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Lewis helped create the celebrated Bedford Post with Richard Gere. His modern American cuisine sources fresh seasonal ingredients from farmers and artisans and I for one can’t wait for this latest addition to the local restaurant scene.

So now there will be two new reasons to stop by this stylish spot in Connecticut – chic shopping and fabulous food – it doesn’t get much better!

  1. Great looking shop! You have to give credit to those folks who go right ahead and follow their visions even in this crazy economic climate. It’s hard work opening a new shop and a bit nerve racking, but what terrific results.

  2. Hi Stacey!
You are so right, it doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you for posting!

  4. I agree! This shop is a worthy interruption of your train of thought. We are in sync with our posts. I am talking about the other Pimlico–the second leg of the triple crown–equestrian style. Naturally, we love the sunburst dove. Thank you for your kind words about my sweet Liza. Forgive me for my stumbling twitter forays.
    Best,
    Liz
