Out and About in NYC with BlogTour and More
It’s a busy design week in New York. As an alumna of the Modenus‘ original BlogTour trip to London in 2011, I was kindly invited to tag along on their second NYC trip yesterday. It was wonderful to see old friends and finally meet some longtime online connections.…

Thank You Decorex!

Decorex International, the legendary British interior design show, just announced its #DECOREX100 – a list of the top 100 interior design Twitter influencers and I am thrilled to announce that Quintessence was on it, as were many friends from twitter, blogging and the “real world.”
This was their announcement today.…

Decorex Delights – Part 2
One of the singular pieces that I was excited to see in real life at Decorex was Boca do Lobo‘s spectacular Heritage cabinet. This limited edition piece represents the Portuguese company’s artistic craftsmanship inspired by its country’s heritage. This firm is another perfect example of the merging of past and present, of respecting history and interpreting it through modern design in both style and technique.…

Decorex Delights – Part 1
Although it has been several weeks since my BlogTour trip to London, there just hasn’t been enough time to cover all that we saw. I will be moving on here, but would feel totally remiss if I didn’t share with you at least some of the fabulous finds from the grande dame of the shows, Decorex. I’m afraid this will have to be a bit of a whirlwind tour without the normal back stories but I hope you will enjoy the view nonetheless.…

Chic Chelsea Harbour
It would be impossible to discuss interior design in London without mentioning the beautiful Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. Our trip there coordinated with the opening day of FOCUS, their annual design show. This is when we visited the beautiful showrooms of sponsors Samuel Heath and Victoria + Baths, covered here.…

Color Mix at 100% Design
Have you ever wondered how it is that different designers and manufacturers all seem to be on the same color page for a season? Many of you already know about color forecasting but at 100% Design in London, we had a fascinating presentation by Mark Woodman of Global Color Research who took it a step further.…

Taking it to the Streets on BlogTour

Taking a little editorial break today, here are just a few visuals of how some of the design themes translated out and about in London on my recent trip with BlogTour.
The Apple Store in Covent Garden is a fabulous architectural design fusion of old and new.…

Trending at Tramshed
Another smaller show celebrating innovative design and authenticity was Tramshed. Located on Rivington Street in the heart of the artsy Shoreditch Design Triangle, this was the second year for the event during the London Design Festival. Although Tramshed offered many seminars and interactive lifestyle discussions, we just managed a quick whirlwind tour through the loft-like space to become familiar with some of the exhibitors.
Leading the show was De La Espada, a design management firm and manufacturer, representing seven designer-led brands, all focused on high quality contemporary products.…

Originality at Origin: Made not Manufactured
One of the most interesting aspects of the London Design Festival was the variety of shows included in the 9 day celebration. From the larger “bigger brand” shows like Decorex and 100% Design to the smaller venues like Origin that showcased the work of artists and artisans, there was inspiration everywhere.…

Creative Collaboration: Poggenpohl & C.P. Hart
As I backtrack a bit here, our first BlogTour morning in London definitely started off on the right foot (yes, pun intended). A walk across the Millennium Bridge on a glorious morning offered a perfect introduction to British design.
Sometimes a picture says it all.…
